Made for Your Project

Turn a Custom Digital Design Into a Physical Object

Custom 3D printing is useful when the part or object you need is specific to your project and is not something you can simply buy off the shelf.

Whether the design is practical, decorative, experimental or a combination of all three, additive manufacturing allows suitable geometry to be produced directly from a digital model without requiring conventional moulds or tooling.

Custom projects can include

  • One-off custom parts and components.
  • Models and display pieces.
  • Cosplay and prop components.
  • Custom brackets, mounts and organisers.
  • Hobby and maker projects.
  • Enclosures, cases and covers.
  • Personalised or project-specific objects.
  • Unusual designs that are difficult to source commercially.

How Custom Printing Works

From Your File to a Finished Custom Print

Suitable standard jobs can move from uploaded model to quote, checkout and manufacturing through the online workflow.

1

Upload the Model

Submit your STL, 3MF, OBJ or STEP file through the online quoting system.

2

Choose Your Options

Select the available material, colour and print settings suitable for the project.

3

Review & Order

Check the calculated pricing and selected configuration, then complete checkout.

4

Print & Dispatch

Your part is prepared, manufactured, inspected and packaged for delivery.

Useful file and project information

  • STL, 3MF, OBJ or STEP model where available.
  • Correct scale and dimensions.
  • How the finished object will be used.
  • Any critical dimensions or interfaces.
  • Required flexibility, rebound, toughness, lower weight or heat resistance.
  • Colour or appearance preferences.
  • Any deadline that needs to be confirmed before ordering.

A Printable Model Is Required, but Some Projects Can Start With More Basic Information

The online quoting system is designed for customer-supplied 3D models. If you do not yet have a printable model, contact us before ordering.

Depending on the project, modelling assistance may be possible or we can advise what photographs, measurements, sketches or other information would be needed to create a printable design.

Material Options

Choose Material Around Appearance and Intended Use

A display model, flexible cover, high-rebound component, outdoor part and functional bracket can all require different material properties.

PLA

General purpose

Well suited to detailed models, display pieces, prototypes and many low-stress custom projects.

PETG

Tough

A practical option where improved toughness, moisture resistance and durability are useful.

ABS

Heat resistant

Suitable for selected custom mechanical applications where improved heat resistance is required.

ASA

Outdoor

Useful for suitable custom parts that need improved UV and weather resistance.

TPU

Flexible

Flexible, rubber-like material for suitable protective, compressible and flexible designs.

PEBA 90A

High rebound

Lightweight flexible material for suitable custom parts needing elastic recovery, cushioning or repeated movement.

Nylon

Engineering

Tough and wear-resistant for selected functional and higher-stress custom applications.

Selected carbon-fibre and glass-fibre reinforced materials may also be available. Current selectable materials and colours are shown through the quote system.

P

Prototypes

Fit checks, product development, testing and iterative design validation.

F

Functional Parts

Brackets, mounts, enclosures, jigs, fixtures and mechanically useful components.

Manufacturing Expectations

Custom FDM Prints Have the Normal Characteristics of Additive Manufacturing

Finished parts can show visible layer lines, minor surface texture, seam lines, support witness marks and small dimensional variation.

For most FDM parts, typical dimensional accuracy is approximately ±0.2 mm or ±0.5% of nominal dimension, whichever is greater, depending on material, geometry, size, orientation and other manufacturing factors.

Finished parts are checked before dispatch

  • Professional 3D printing equipment.
  • Appropriate slicing profiles.
  • Material handling and condition management.
  • Routine printer maintenance.
  • Inspection before dispatch.

Before submitting a custom model

  • Make sure you own the design or have permission to manufacture it.
  • Confirm the model dimensions and scale.
  • Consider whether the selected material suits the intended use.
  • Identify any tight tolerances before ordering.
  • Contact us before ordering safety-critical or regulated parts.
Customer-Supplied Designs

Your Design Remains Your Responsibility

You retain ownership of your uploaded design and are responsible for ensuring you have the rights or permissions needed to manufacture it.

Functional suitability also depends on the design and application. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, ordinary printed parts are not certified for safety-critical applications.

Custom Printing Questions

Common Questions About Custom 3D Printing

Can you print a one-off custom item?

Yes. One-off custom manufacturing is a common use for 3D printing because a suitable part can be produced directly from a digital model without dedicated moulds or tooling.

What kinds of custom projects can you print?

Suitable projects can include prototypes, replacement components, functional parts, models, display pieces, cosplay components, hobby projects, organisers, enclosures and other custom designs.

What file formats can I upload?

Common supported formats include STL, 3MF, OBJ and STEP. If you are unsure whether your model is suitable, contact us before ordering.

Can you help if I do not have a printable model?

Depending on the project, modelling assistance may be possible or we can advise what photographs, measurements, sketches or other information would be required to create a printable model.

Can you print lightweight, high-rebound flexible parts?

Yes, for suitable designs. PEBA 90A can be considered where elastic recovery, cushioning, lower weight or repeated dynamic movement is important. The geometry and intended duty still need to be assessed and tested.

Can I choose the material and colour?

Yes, from the options currently available through the quote system. Material and colour availability may vary depending on stock and project requirements.

Can you print copyrighted or trademarked models?

You must have the necessary rights, licences or permissions to have a design manufactured. We may refuse an order where we reasonably believe manufacturing the item would infringe intellectual property rights or otherwise breach the law.
