Returns & Refund Policy
Effective Date: 30 June 2026
At 3D Print It, we take pride in producing high-quality custom 3D printed products. We want every customer to be satisfied with their purchase while ensuring our policies comply with New Zealand consumer law.
This Returns & Refund Policy explains your rights and our procedures for returns, replacements, repairs, and refunds.
1. Application
This policy applies to all purchases made through https://3dprintit.co.nz unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other applicable New Zealand law.
2. Custom-Made Products
Most products manufactured by 3D Print It are custom-made to your specifications, including products made from customer-supplied files, customised dimensions, colours, materials, or finishes.
Because these items are made specifically for you, we generally cannot accept returns or provide refunds if you:
- change your mind;
- order the wrong size;
- upload the wrong file;
- select the wrong material or colour;
- no longer require the item after production has commenced.
Please review your order carefully before confirming it.
3. If Your Product Is Faulty
If a product:
- is faulty;
- has a manufacturing defect;
- is significantly different from what was ordered;
- is not of acceptable quality;
- is not fit for its intended purpose (where that purpose was made known to us and accepted by us);
please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Where required under New Zealand law, we will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include:
- repairing the product;
- replacing the product;
- reprinting the product; or
- providing a refund.
The appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the issue and your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
4. Manufacturing Tolerances
3D printing is an additive manufacturing process and minor variations are normal.
Examples include:
- visible layer lines;
- small surface imperfections;
- slight colour variation;
- minor dimensional tolerances;
- support removal marks;
- natural characteristics of the chosen material.
These normal manufacturing characteristics are not considered defects where they are within commercially reasonable tolerances for the selected printing process and material.
5. Customer-Supplied Files
We manufacture products based on the files and specifications you provide.
We cannot accept responsibility for issues resulting from:
- incorrect dimensions;
- design flaws;
- thin or unsupported features;
- unsuitable wall thickness;
- incorrect scaling;
- modelling errors;
- files that are not suitable for 3D printing.
If a print fails because of an issue in the supplied design, additional charges may apply for reprinting.
Where practical, we may notify you if we identify an obvious issue before production begins, but we are not responsible for reviewing or validating every design.
6. Damage During Shipping
If your order arrives damaged:
- Keep all packaging and the damaged item.
- Take clear photographs of:
- the packaging;
- the shipping label;
- the damaged product.
- Contact us as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
We will work with you and, where applicable, the courier company to resolve the issue.
7. Incorrect Orders
If you receive the wrong product, please contact us promptly with your order number and photographs.
If the error was ours, we will arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include replacement, reprinting, repair, or refund as required by law.
8. Return Process
Before returning any item, please contact us with:
- your name;
- order number;
- description of the issue;
- photographs where applicable.
Do not return products without prior approval, as we may be able to resolve the issue without requiring the item to be returned.
If a return is required, we will provide instructions.
9. Refunds
Where a refund is approved, it will normally be processed using the original payment method.
Refunds generally do not include shipping charges unless required by New Zealand law or where the issue resulted from our error.
Processing times may vary depending on your payment provider.
10. Business Customers
Where products or services are supplied for business purposes, and both parties agree in writing, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 may not apply to the extent permitted by New Zealand law.
