• request a quote or upload a file;
• place or receive an order;
• contact us or request support; or
• otherwise interact with 3D Print It.

We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.

03Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Identity and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery addresses, company name and GST details where relevant.
• Account information: login and account details, preferences and communication history.
• Quote and order information: products, quantities, specifications, materials, colours, finishes, prices, payment status, delivery details and order history.
• Uploaded content: STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP or other design files, CAD drawings, images, instructions and supporting documents.
• Communications: enquiries, support messages, feedback and information you provide about a project or intended application.
• Website and device information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, referring website, approximate location, timestamps, cookies and similar technical data.

Please avoid including personal information in an uploaded file or message unless it is necessary for your project.

04How We Collect Information

We collect information:

• directly from you when you use our website, request a quote, upload a file, create an account, place an order, subscribe or contact us;
• automatically through website logs, cookies and similar technologies; and
• from service providers where necessary, such as payment confirmation, fraud-prevention results, delivery status or account information received from payment, courier or website-service providers.

Where we collect personal information about you from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to make sure you are aware of the collection and the relevant details when the Privacy Act requires us to do so, unless an exception applies.

If you give us personal information about another person, you must have authority to provide it and should make sure they understand how it will be used.

05Why We Collect and Use Information

We may collect and use personal information to:

• prepare quotes and assess whether a design can be manufactured;
• process orders, payments, manufacturing and delivery;
• operate customer accounts and maintain order records;
• communicate about quotes, files, production, delivery, support or warranty matters;
• improve our website, products, services and customer experience;
• maintain security, prevent fraud and diagnose technical problems;
• send marketing communications where permitted and selected by you; and
• comply with tax, accounting, legal and regulatory obligations or establish and defend legal claims.

We will not use personal information for a new purpose unless that use is permitted by law or we obtain any authorisation that is required.

06Uploaded Design Files

Uploaded files may contain confidential information, proprietary designs or personal information. We use those files only as reasonably necessary to:

• generate or review a quotation;
• prepare, slice and manufacture your order;
• inspect and verify the finished product;
• provide customer support, reprints or warranty assistance; and
• maintain records where reasonably required for the order or by law.

Unless you authorise it or it is necessary to provide the requested service or comply with law, we will not sell, publish, display, share with other customers or use your design for our own commercial purposes.

Access to uploaded files is limited to people and service providers who reasonably need access to perform the requested work or support our systems.

07Intellectual Property

Uploading a file does not transfer ownership of your intellectual property to 3D Print It. You retain ownership of your design unless otherwise agreed in writing.

You confirm that you have the right and authority to provide every file, image, design and instruction submitted to us and to authorise its use for the requested services.

08Payments

Payments are processed using third-party payment providers. Those providers receive the information needed to authorise and process the transaction under their own privacy terms.

Where you choose Afterpay, relevant order, billing, contact and transaction information may be provided to Afterpay to enable the payment transaction and related services, including payment processing, customer verification, fraud and security checks, payment administration and the processing of refunds or payment adjustments.

Afterpay handles personal information in accordance with its own applicable privacy policy and terms. Information supplied to Afterpay may be processed or stored by Afterpay and its service providers in accordance with those policies.

3D Print It does not store your complete credit-card or debit-card number. We may receive and retain transaction identifiers, payment status, payment method, billing details and information needed for accounting, refunds, fraud prevention or support.

Where a payment provider processes information outside New Zealand, the provisions of this Privacy Policy relating to overseas services apply.

09Cookies & Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for functions such as:

• shopping-cart, checkout, account and security features;
• remembering preferences and consent choices;
• measuring website performance and traffic; and
• improving the website and understanding how it is used.

Where required, non-essential cookies are controlled through our consent banner. You can change your consent choices using the website’s consent controls or adjust cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the website from working correctly.

10Marketing Communications

You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. We may still send non-marketing messages needed to manage a quote, order, account, service or legal notice.

11Sharing Your Information

We may share relevant personal information with:

• payment processors and fraud-prevention services;
• courier, delivery and fulfilment providers;
• website hosting, cloud storage, communications, analytics, security and IT-support providers;
• professional advisers such as accountants, insurers and legal advisers;
• a purchaser or adviser involved in a proposed sale or restructuring of the business, subject to appropriate confidentiality; and
• regulators, courts, law-enforcement agencies or other parties where disclosure is authorised or required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety or security.

We disclose only the information reasonably required for the relevant purpose and do not sell your personal information.

12Overseas Services

Some technology, cloud, payment, analytics or support providers may process or store information outside New Zealand.

Where a transfer or disclosure is subject to information privacy principle 12, we will use a permitted basis and take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is required to provide privacy safeguards comparable to those in the Privacy Act 2020, or obtain informed authorisation where appropriate.

Using an overseas cloud provider to hold or process information on our behalf does not remove our responsibility for that information where the Privacy Act treats it as being held by us.

13Storage & Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information we hold. These may include:

• encrypted website connections;
• secured hosting, accounts and backups;
• password protection and access restrictions;
• software updates and security monitoring; and
• limiting access to people who reasonably require it.

No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

14Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as it may lawfully be used and is reasonably necessary to:

• complete and support quotes and orders;
• provide repeat-order, warranty or dispute assistance;
• maintain security and business records; and
• meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations.

Retention periods vary according to the information and purpose. When information and uploaded files are no longer required, we will securely delete or anonymise them where reasonably practicable.

15Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may ask us to:

• confirm whether we hold personal information about you;
• provide access to personal information we hold about you; and
• correct information you believe is inaccurate, incomplete or misleading.

If we do not make a requested correction, you may ask us to attach a statement of correction to the information where the Act provides that right.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Access may be limited or refused where an applicable legal ground permits or requires this, and we will respond within the time required by law.

16Privacy Breaches

If a privacy breach occurs, we will take reasonable steps to contain it, assess the risk and reduce potential harm.

Where a breach has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected people as soon as reasonably practicable, unless a lawful exception applies.

17Children’s Privacy

Our services are not specifically directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from a child without appropriate involvement or authorisation from a parent, guardian or other responsible adult where this is required.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us inappropriately, please contact our Privacy Officer.
